Former President Jimmy Carter is expected to arrive in Boston later today with Aijalon Gomes, the American imprisoned in North Korea since January. The Carter Center repeats the former President's trip was private and only intended to secure Gomes' freedom. The government-run North Korean News Agency says Carter and North Korean leaders also had an 'openhearted discussion' about resuming international peace talks intended to rid the Korean peninsula of nuclear material.

'It's going from bad to worse', says U.N. spokesman Maurizio Guiliano. In the past 48 hours, about one million people have run from flooding. The Indus River breached another dike near Thatta and some parts of Pakistan are now described as an 'inland sea'. About 1,500 people are known dead from flooding and 20 million are affected. In addition to the lack of relief supplies, Taliban militants are threatening to attack aid workers.

DANIELLE NOW A CATEGORY 4 HURRICANE

That means top sustained winds are 135 miles per hour and the National Hurricane Center expects it to get stronger, so thankfully Danielle is expected to do a U-turn over the weekend and barrel through the open Atlantic. Numbers can't describe hurricane winds like the Weather Channel's Jeff Morrow who tried to stand up to Hurricane Wilma in 2005. Sunday, Aug. 29 is the fifth anniversary of Hurricane Katrina's landfall in Louisiana.

BUT SERIOUSLY, CAN SHE DANCE?

Yep, this is apropos of nothing. But E! Online says Gov. Palin's daughter, Bristol Palin will join the next season of Dancing With The Stars.  The lineup will be officially announced next Monday. EW.com speculates other cast members will include former quarterback Curt Warner, Brady Bunch mom Florence Henderson, Michael "The Situation" Sorrentino, and comedian Margaret Cho.
