VIDEOS: Ted Williams, Homeless Man With The 'Golden Voice' On 'Today'

Ted Williams' amazing story keeps getting ... more amazing.

Known now across the nation and much of the world as the homeless man with the golden voice (as we reported yesterday), Williams was on NBC-TV's Today show this morning — and they put him to work right at the opening:

Yes, that's the 53-year-old Williams doing the announcing work at the start of the show. In just a couple days he's gone from living on the streets in Columbus, Ohio, to national fame. He's planning to take up the Cleveland Cavaliers' offer of a job and help paying for a place to live. And he says he's going to be the "official voice" of Kraft Macaroni & Cheese.

The Columbus Dispatch, which started the frenzy with its video report on Williams, reports today about Williams' life. It notes that he's served some time in prison on various charges, including theft. Williams has been very open about the drug abuse that he says destroyed his life — and says that he's been clean for about two years. He's fathered seven girls and two boys.

Later on this morning's edition of Today, he sat down with Matt Lauer and Meredith Vieira. "This time around," Williams said, he thinks God will help him take advantage of the new chance he's been given. Five years from today, he added, he'd like to be a program director at a radio station:
