Basketball's Better Story: Carmelo Trade Or Caltech Win? : The Two-WaySure, it's big (though not surprising) news that basketball superstar Carmelo Anthony is moving from the Denver Nuggets to the New York Knicks. But the Caltech men's basketball team snapped a 310-game conference losing streak.
But here's the much more fun story from the world of basketball: The Caltech men's basketball team beat Occidental last night, 46-45.
And that, as Caltech's information office says, means the school "has won its first Southern California Intercollegiate Athletics Conference (SCIAC) game since the 1984-1985 season, breaking its 310-game losing streak."
That had been, the Los Angeles Times adds, "the longest conference losing streak in the nation." Just think about it: Ronald Reagan was the president; cellphones were the size of bricks; Twitter was ... only something that birds did.
