Odd Andersen/AFP/Getty ImagesPrincess Beatrice of York made quite an impression with her, um, unique hat at the Royal Wedding, last month. The hat became the subject of immediate ridicule and so much fascination that it has its own Facebook page, and spawned its own internet meme in which people Photoshopped the huge bow hat on Osama Bin Laden or Photoshopped things coming out of the hat.
Well, the Telegraph reports, Beatrice has turned a fashion faux pas into something good:
Princess Beatrice had the last laugh today when her Philip Treacy hat sold for a record-breaking £81,101 [$130,710] on auction website eBay.
Young royal Beatrice, 22, decided to capitalise on the unexpected frenzy surrounding her hat by putting it up for sale to raise money for the UNICEF and Children in Crisis charities through her Little Bee Initiative, which she set up for the purpose of this auction.
