Students Begin Receiving Scores on New SAT

Test results from the first round of SAT testing are starting to arrive at students' doors. This year is the first time the exam includes a writing section, and the maximum score has changed from 1600 to 2400. Michele Norris talks with Gloria Mueller, college counseling coordinator at Glenbrook South High School in Glenview, Ill.

Revised SAT Debuts

For the first time in a decade, the SAT college entrance exam has been revised. The verbal analogy section was dropped, an essay segment was added and the math portion was changed to more closely parallel what's being taught in high schools. Two college admissions officers -- North Carolina's Dr. Jerry Lucido and Carleton College's Paul Thiboutot -- talk about how they'll use test results.

SAT Writing Test Worries Disadvantaged Students

When more than 300,000 teenagers take the SAT college entrance exam this weekend, they will have to write an essay for the first time in the history of the test. The new focus on writing is causing anxiety, particularly among low income, minority and immigrant students in schools that haven't taught them how to write.
