Summer-Like Conditions Are Fueling California Wildfire

May 28, 2013 • The blaze north of Santa Barbara has forced as many as 6,000 people to evacuate homes and campsites. It's thought the fire began Monday at a campsite in the Los Padres National Forest. So far, more than 1,000 acres have been burned. It may be a week before the fire is contained.

February 13, 2013 • As investigators work to determine whether the charred body inside a California mountain cabin is that of former Los Angeles police officer Christopher Jordan Dorner, dramatic reports are emerging about what authorities hope were the last hours of the massive manhunt for the accused killer.

October 5, 2012 • Refinery and pipeline troubles pushed wholesale fuel costs to a record high this week, leading to higher gas prices for Californians. Industry watchers say those prices may not drop any time soon.

Adding to the day being a memorably rotten one for unions were voter initiatives in two of California's largest cities, San Diego and San Jose, aimed at reducing the burden of public employees' pensions on taxpayers.
