FAA reopens two runways at DCA following helicopter and jet mid-air collision

The FAA had closed two of DCA's three runways so investigators could piece together how the January accident occurred when an Army Black Hawk helicopter crashed into an American Airlines regional jet.

At least a dozen figure skaters, coaches and their family members were on the plane that crashed near Washington, D.C., including two teenage competitors and a Russian husband-and-wife coaching duo.

D.C. plane crash efforts pivot from rescue to recovery, fire chief says

Officials say 28 bodies have been recovered so far after a regional passenger jet carrying 64 people collided in midair with a Black Hawk helicopter Wednesday night. The plane was approaching a runway at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport.

2 dead and several injured in Southern California plane crash

Two people died and 18 were injured Thursday when a small plane crashed through the roof of a furniture manufacturing building in Southern California, police said.

53 dogs that survived a plane crash are now up for adoption

All three people and all 53 dogs on the plane survived, although there were some minor injuries among both groups of mammals. The flight was bringing rescue dogs from New Orleans to Milwaukee.

A black box from the fatal Chinese plane crash has been located, officials say

The equipment was extremely damaged, however, so it's unclear how much information it will provide. There were 132 people aboard the flight, which crashed on Monday.

4 people die when a small plane crashes at an Atlanta area airport

The Federal Aviation Administration said the single-engine Cessna 210 crashed at DeKalb-Peachtree Airport and caught fire. All four people on board died, a county fire spokesman said.
