Illinois Release David Schaper of member station WBEZ reports that the state of Illinois today freed 43-year old Anthony Porter after he spent 16 years on death row. Porter was convicted of double murder in a 1982 crime. He was released because of a group of journalism students at Northwestern University. The students tracked down another man who eventually confessed to the murders.
