Bank Merger NPR's Edward Lifson reports from Berlin that the boards of Germany's Deutsche Bank and the US owned Bankers Trust have approved a merger of the two financial institutions. If approved by regulators, Deutsche Bank will pay more than 10 billion dollars to acquire Bankers Trust. Their combined assets will amount to more than 800 billion dollars, making it the world's largest bank. Deutsche Bank says the acquisition will allow it to compete more effectively in its core market, Europe.
