Fl Storms Pat Duggins of member station WMFE in Orlando reports from Seminole County, Florida, where a series of tornadoes ripped through central Florida last night and killed more than 30 people, destroying hundreds of homes and businesses. The deaths and damage were concentrated in the Orlando area. Eighteen of the victims died in Osceola County, which surrounds the Walt Disney World entertainment complex. Forecasters say some of the tornadoes may have had wind speeds as high as 210 miles an hour. President Clinton announced late today that he will go to central Florida to survey the damage and the cleanup operation on Wednesday.
