Washington View NPR's Ted Clark reports that as new clashes between Israelis and Palestinians continue, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is proposing to scrap the current, staged peace agreement process... which he has never liked... in favor of a new, accelerated negotiation process. It is hoped that this would enable Israel to reach a final settlement with the Palestinians on all the thorny issues that divide them. The Palestinians reject the move to abandon the Oslo accords, saying it is an Israeli ploy to get out of commitments already made.
