In this Sonatas & Soundscapes interview, host Bradley Fuller speaks with violinist Rachel Barton Pine and harpsichordist Jory Vinikour about two Bach works the pair will be performing at the College of Charleston’s Sottile Theatre alongside Chamber Music Charleston on Tuesday, September 28th. Pine and Vinikour share about what makes this music personally meaningful for them, how Bach was an innovator when it came to composing for keyboardists, the instruments they will use for their performance, and more.

The concert, which will be the season opener for Chamber Music Charleston’s 2021-2022 Ovation Concert Series, also features flutist Regina Helcher Yost joining Pine and Vinikour as a soloist for the fifth Brandenburg Concerto. Beethoven’s String Quartet No. 11 in F minor, Op. 95, will conclude the program, with Pine as first violin. More information can be found on the Chamber Music Charleston website.
