Dragging Death Verdict NPR's Wade Goodwyn reports a jury in Jasper, Texas has convicted John William King of capital murder for the dragging death of James Byrd, Jr. last summer. King is one of three men accused of chaining Byrd to a pickup truck and dragging him for nearly 3 miles until he died. This morning during closing arguments, Prosecutors argued Byrd was consicous through most of the ordeal and suffering horribly. Jurors must now decide if King should receive the death penalty.
