Cohen To Mideast NPR's Tom Gjelten reports bombs dropped on Iraq again today, just as Defense Secretary William Cohen was preparing to head for the Middle East. Cohen's week-long trip will take him to the Gulf countries, Jordan, and Egypt as well as Israel. One purpose of the trip will be to address growing Arab concerns about the continuing low level air war with Iraq. Arab governments are now openly criticizing the air strikes, after keeping their silence in the wake of the four-day bombing campaign in December. Another item on Cohen's agenda is proposed arms sales to Arab states. A continuing depression in oil prices is making it difficult for Arab governments to buy the high tech US weapons they're now being offered.
