Reading The US Department of Education today releases its biggest report on how well school children are reading. Known as the nation's "Reading Report Card" this year's state by state breakdown of scores shows some encouraging upward trends, especially in the northeastern U.S. There is little evidence though that the poorest performing states - namely Mississippi, Louisiana and California, are making much progress.
