Yesterday, the Chairman of the National Endowment for the Arts cancelled a grant to a small El Paso, Texas, publisher that had submitted a proposal to translate a Mexican children's book. The grant had been approved by the Endowment's review panels. The chairman vetoed the grant after a reporter pointed out that the author is Subcomandante Marcos, of the Mexican Zapatista guerilla movement. NPR's Dean Olsher reports.
