Paul Volcker & Arthur Andersen NPR's Jim Zarroli reports that former Federal Reserve Chairman Paul Volcker is optimistic that the Arthur Andersen accounting and consulting company can survive its current troubles. Volcker announced the selection of two Andersen senior partners who will lead the firm during a transition period to new management. Volcker is the head of an independent panel overseeing an overhaul of Andersen's business practices. He plans to turn Andersen into a firm focused strictly on auditing, spinning off other divisions.
