Namelessnumberheadman are a trio from small-town Oklahoma now residing in Kansas City. On their third album, Wires Reply, the band continues to mesh the worlds of acoustic and electronic music. Members Chuck Whittington (guitar and keyboards), Jason Lewis (keyboards and other devices), and Andrew Sallee (drums) are likely to switch instruments mid-song, managing to create more sounds than the average three member band.
From acoustic guitar to synthesizer and banjo to sampler, namelessnumberheadman sound like the space between Ben Gibbard's Death Cab for Cutie and Postal Service projects. Local Kansas City publications have praised the band for "combining disparate sounds into one unclassifiable musical animal." "The Beginning" starts with a clever 6/8 hocket (in which two players alternate playing to achieve one overall rhythmic pattern) between the acoustic guitar and drums before a delay-laden guitar echoes throughout the chorus.
Wires Reply is released on the St. Ives label. According to the band, "the album artwork is lovingly hand-wrought in a celebration of folk art and the return to care in record making."
