Virgin America is preparing for takeoff in the United States next month, starting with seven flights a day. The airline begins selling cut-rate tickets Thursday on some of the nation's most heavily traveled routes — San Francisco to New York and Los Angeles to San Francisco. But analysts say the landscape has changed since Virgin America's strategy first took shape.
