And bankruptcies of small businesses are rising. Small enterprises have been hit especially hard by the economic slowdown and the credit squeeze. The Los Angeles Times reports this morning that small business bankruptcies in California jumped more than 80 percent from September last year to September this year, that's according to the credit analysis firm called Equifax. In real numbers, that means 19,000 small businesses threw in the towel.
