'Oddfather' Gigante Pleads Guilty to Obstruction Charges
NPR's Melissa Block talks with reporter Jerry Capeci about Vincent "The Chin" Gigante, who plead guilty to obstructing justice by faking mental illness. Gigante has been feigning insanity for over 30 years in an effort to thwart prosecution for federal crimes. Before being jailed in 1997 on racketeering charges, "The Oddfather," as Gigante has been called, was often seen in Greenwich Village shuffling around in his bathrobe, mumbling to himself.
