If punk rockers Sid and Nancy made Paul McCartney's Ram, it might have sounded like this. Tommy Allen & Sarah Cronin are the Boston duo Drug Rug. They formed the group out of their mutual love for the classic McCartney record.
"'Drug Rug'" has become a name that makes strangers laugh and parents cry," says the band. The brow-raising name is also the name of their new album. Drug Rugis full of lo-fi psychedelic pop songs with Allen and Cronin's dual vocals. They also draw inspiration from "early folk musicians, comic books, campgrounds, funny hats, and the illustrations of Garth Williams," the couple reveals.
"Day I Die" might be the happiest song about death ever. Even considering the lyrics about falling out of windows and buying the farm at age 25, one can't help but smile.
