Our panelists answer questions about the week's news, including name-calling in the Alabama treasurer's race.

PETER SAGAL, Host:

We want to remind everybody that they can join us here most weeks at the Chase Bank Auditorium in beautiful downtown Chicago. For tickets and more information, you can go to chicagopublicradio.org, or you can find a link at our website, waitwait.npr.org. Right now, panel, time for you to answer some questions from this week's news.

Paula, the Democratic candidate for Alabama state treasurer is continually referring to his Republican opponent as a Young Boozer, but the Republican candidate himself has not challenged this allegation. Why not?

M: He's too drunk.

(SOUNDBITE OF LAUGHTER)

SAGAL: What'd you say? No, that's not the answer.

M: A Young Boozer, his last name is Boozer?

SAGAL: His last name is Boozer. And his first name is?

M: Young.

SAGAL: Yes. His name is Young Boozer.

(SOUNDBITE OF BELL)

(SOUNDBITE OF LAUGHTER)

SAGAL: That's his name.

M: I like that.

M: Wow.

(SOUNDBITE OF LAUGHTER)

SAGAL: Young Boozer is running for the office of treasurer of the state of Alabama under the slogan: Funny Name, Serious Leadership.

(SOUNDBITE OF LAUGHTER)

SAGAL: Young Boozer...

M: Wow.

SAGAL: ...is the great-great-grandson of Young Boozer the first, whose name was changed on Ellis Island from the original, Lindsay Lohan.

(SOUNDBITE OF LAUGHTER)

SAGAL: He is running, Mr. Boozer is, under the platform of fiscal conservatism, long-term investment, and I'll bet you 10 bucks you can't remember the name of the other guy. Falling behind in the polls, the other guy, Democratic candidate Jeremy Sherer, has announced he is changing his name to Funboobs McCrappen.

(SOUNDBITE OF LAUGHTER)

M: Yeah, he's got my vote.
