Canadian Woman Arrested For Fake Robbery
DEBORAH AMOS, host:
Good morning. I'm Deb Amos.
It was a stunning piece of audace. A Canadian woman called the police and claimed she'd been robbed. When they arrived, she made a phone call in front of one of the officers and she spoke in French. On the phone she confessed the robbery was an insurance scam. She didn't think the policeman - who was born in India - would understand. In fact, he speaks seven languages. When the woman hung up, he said merci beaucoup. And he promptly arrested her.
It's MORNING EDITION.
