2 California Candidates Starving For Debate
LINDA WERTHEIMER, host:
Good morning. I'm Linda Wertheimer.
Two California congressional candidates are starving for debate - really. They haven't eaten since last Thursday. Democrat Ray Lutz and Libertarian Mike Benoit are on a hunger strike, demanding their opponent, Republican Rep. Duncan Hunter, debate them. So far, Lutz has skipped 20 meals and lost 14 pounds. But he doesn't want to expire, so if there's no debate date by Friday he'll break his fast.
It's MORNING EDITION.
