Chautauqua Book Club Marks 125th Anniversary This year marks the 125th anniversary of the founding of the oldest continuous book club in the United States. The Chautauqua Literary and Scientific Circle, was established by a methodist minister as a four-year correspondence course for people who could not go to college.
