The Grey Race: 'Care of Cell 44' The Grey Race is a pop-rock trio from Brooklyn, NY. Their five-song EP is a tight collection of upbeat, well-produced pop with precise instrumentation. The album has a remarkably full sound considering it was recorded in a bedroom with ProTools software, a couple of microphones, and a small drum kit.

The Grey Race

The Grey Race is a pop-rock trio from Brooklyn, NY. Their five-song EP is a tight collection of upbeat, well-produced pop with precise instrumentation. The album has a remarkably full sound considering it was recorded in a bedroom with ProTools software, a couple of microphones, and a small drum kit.

The lyrical content on the band's new EP is refreshing mix of gloomy and lighter themes. Singer Jon Darling explains, "We've got this sweet-and-sour thing going on. My stuff is pretty dark and moody, but Ethan and Jeff's production brought a completely new dimension to it." This idea of sweet pop and a troubled narrative is also heard in their version of the Zombies' "Care of Cell 44", a song about reuniting with a girl just out of in prison.

The album was mixed by Andy Chase who also released the CD on his label Unfiltered Records. The Grey Race has recently finished a full length album titled Give It Love.
