The Hip-Hop Chess Federation is a San Francisco-area group that uses rap and chess to teach kids life lessons about strategy, discipline and creativity.

This weekend, the organization hosts its first Chess Kings Invitational, where rap stars — including the Wu Tang's RZA and GZA — battle for a title belt, in an effort to raise money for the group.

Farai Chideya talks with federation co-founder Adisa Banjoko and rapper T-Kash, one of the competitors.
