The Google "gusher" describes the spread of wealth from one of the most successful companies. The San Jose Mercury News found that after the Internet search engine went public in 2004, it generated more than $19 billion for its employees — more than the gross domestic product of Iceland or Panama. That money created many millionaires and swallowed up real estate. It also underwrote a free citywide wireless network in Mountain View, Calif., Google's headquarters.
