83-year-old opera singer Andrew Frierson ventured back to Columbia, Tenn., the place where he was born.

He traveled back to give a concert in the formerly segregated church were his grandfather, a slave, once worshiped.

He recounts the experience for Farai Chideya: "To me," he says, "it was an experience almost of déjà vu."
