'Musical Highlights from the White House' For perspective on the history of music in the White House, NPR's Fred Child talks with Elise Kirk, who wrote a book called Musical Highlights from the White House. Kirk talks about music at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue during various administrations. Then we hear a piece of music that became a highlight of the Kennedy years when cellist Pablo Casals played it with two of his colleagues. It's Piano Trio, Op. 49, by Felix Mendelssohn. Our concert performance comes from the Colorado College Summer Music Festival.
