'On the Road' Hits the Road Fans of Jack Kerouac have a chance to see the original manuscript of his most famous novel. Kerouac wrote the novel On the Road in 1951. He typed it on sheets of tracing paper, and taped them together into a scroll. Consider it a one-page novel -- single-spaced, and 120 feet long. Years later, the manuscript was sold for $2.4 million. The owner is sending it on a cross-country tour, similar to the trip once made by the author.
