Israeli Settlement Growth Plan Spurs Outcry
Israel plans to build 3,500 new housing units in the largest Jewish settlement in the West Bank, a move officials say has long been planned. But Palestinians and Israeli critics say the growth could make a viable Palestinian state almost impossible.
Palestinian officials say the added construction at the Maale Abumim settlement would cut off East Jerusalem from the West Bank and make a viable Palestinian state impossible. NPR's Linda Gradstein reports.
