Hurricane Center Turns to Greek Alphabet for Names As forecasters monitor Hurricane Wilma, they are also keeping tabs on Tropical Storm Alpha, the record 22nd named storm this season. There have been so many hurricanes this season that the National Hurricane Center has run out of names. It creates names using letters of the alphabet -- except Q, U, X, Y or Z. Now, for the first time, it has to turn to the Greek alphabet. Turns out, Alpha poses no threat to the U.S. Let's hope there's no Hurricane Beta.
