Kristi Hager spoke with StoryCorps volunteer Cherie Newman.
When she thinks of the times she and her mother spent together, Kristi Hager recalls a day when she was just 9 as her favorite. That day, a study session for a lifeguard test left them both in a fit of laughter.
Hager, now 60, says it all started with standard quizzing, as her mother prepared herself to watch over the family's new swimming pool. But then an answer from the book, involving the word "undulating," left mother and daughter so deep in laughter that all they could do was to laugh some more.
Kristi Hager recalled her mother, Norine, with StoryCorps volunteer Cherie Newman in Missoula, Mont.
StoryCorps is traveling the country recording interviews between friends and family member. The interviews are archived at the Library of Congress, where future generations can listen to the recordings. Morning Edition brings you one of these stories each Friday.
