Modern Skirts

"In Athens, it's almost a joke how many bands there are in this town and how saturated it is," says band member Phillip Brantley.

Nevertheless, Modern Skirts have had little trouble finding a niche. Over one thousand fans recently signed up for the group's e-mail listserv, especially after their debut album, Catalogue of Generous Men generated a lot of early buzz.

It's not hard to see why Modern Skirts are getting a lot of attention in a city known for its bustling music scene. The band, featuring Brantley on bass, guitar and vocals, drummer John Swint, guitarist and vocalist Jay Gulley and pianist, guitarist and vocalist JoJo Glidewell, is a hard-working, tight group. Their songs are diverse, catchy and immediately accessible, making it easy for them to quickly win the hearts of the Athens music scene.
