The Vinyl Skyway is composed of Boston area musicians Michael Hayes, Ben Kuris, Rob Pevitts, Booth Hardy, Kelly McCann and Andy Santospago. Together they create lush harmonies and catchy melodies that have snagged the attention of their local music scene.
In late 2005, Boston music critic Jonathan Perry compared The Vinyl Skyway's debut album to acts like The Pernice Brothers, Wilco and The Jayhawks, praising Hayes' "poetic revelation from wistful portraits of the lives intertwined with his own." Their album also recently earned airplay on KCRW's popular music show, "Morning Becomes Eclectic."
Hayes, whose day job is graphic designer, and Santospago, who works at a pharmaceutical company, say they'll soon head back into the studio to record another album. Despite all of their hard work and out-of-pocket expenses, The Vinyl Skyway have their mind set on "introducing (their) music to cities across the U.S.A. and Europe." and hope to secure a label deal to get the word out.
The featured track from the Vinyl Skyway's self-titled debut is "Rich Blood."
