I Pine For Swine Unless you're at the Iowa State Fairgrounds in Des Moines, or on the way there, you're missing the 18th annual World Pork Expo. According to the sponsors, the Expo is the world's largest pork-specific trade show. Sessions are devoted to such topics improving pig production and pig health, marketing strategies, and creative uses for pig manure. Of the latter, one that seems especially intriguing is turning manure into energy, but alas, that was yesterday. Even more interesting than the sessions themselves are the ancillary events. For example, there's the World Pork Open Golf Outing, the PigCasso Art Show, the Pork Academy, and, of course, the Pig Races. Clearly Des Moines is the place to be for swine fanciers this week.
