Satire: A Campaign Pitch for Mark Foley
MICHELE NORRIS, host:
One source of that dissatisfaction with Congress is of course the Mark Foley scandal. Foley resigned his seat in Florida's 16th District, but his name is still on the ballot in the upcoming election. State representative Joe Negron has been selected by Republicans to replace Foley, but still, Floridians who want to vote for Negron will have to cast their vote for mark Foley. Now, that's just too good to pass up for satirists Bruce Kluger and David Slavin. They put together this fake campaign ad.

Unidentified Man #1: Mark Foley, a disgrace to the nation and a traitor to his constituents. Florida can't afford to have politicians like Mark Foley sullying the halls of Congress for one more day, let alone another two years. You can take a stand against lying predators like Mark Foley by voting for Mark Foley for Congress. Why should you choose Mark Foley over Mark Foley? Because your support for Mark Foley will keep you and your children safe from Mark Foley and all the other Mark Foleys of the world. So remember, a vote for Mark Foley will send a message to Mark Foley that we're not going to let people like Mark Foley lie to us anymore. That's why we're voting for Mark Foley. Paid for by Citizens for and Against Mark Foley.
Unidentified Man #2: I'm mark Foley and I approved this message. I think.
