RENEE MONTAGNE, Host:

LP records and airbags are so much a part of our culture, one hardly thinks they were invented. And their inventors? Anonymous.

This year, 18 new members will be inducted into the The National Inventors' Hall of Fame. Among them are Allen Breed, for the automotive airbag; and the late Peter Goldmark, we can thank him for long-playing record. The new inductees join such celebrated investors, already in the Hall of Fame, as Thomas Edison, Eli Whitney, and Guglielmo Marconi, his invention, led to the modern radio.
