Sales Soar For Shoes, Glasses Like Sarah Palin's
STEVE INSKEEP, host:
Let's stay with the fashion business for a moment, because today's last word in business is Naughty Monkey. That's the name of a line of shoes that Alaska Governor Sarah Palin wore when she was introduced as John McCain's vice presidential nominee. The three-and-a-half-inch red peep-toe patent leather pumps - that's something I've never said on the air before - three-and-a-half-inch red peep-toe patent leather pumps are now selling like hotcakes on at least one online shoe site.
Political fashion observers were also quick to spot the governor's eyeglasses. The company that distributes the $375 Japanese designer frames says they've now got backorders. And the Wall Street Journal reports that one company is even publicizing its Palin-esque wigs. It sold about 25 of them.
