Officials at the New York Thruway are keeping up their New Year's Eve tradition. The thruway's 27 toll plazas are offering free coffee and tea to travelers from 11:00 pm Dec. 31 until 7:00 am Jan. 1. They've been doing this for more than 40 years.

The folks at Silver Lake Research can help when you want to know if you've gotten decaf by mistake or vice versa. They have a caffeine detector stick. It's a strip of coated paper that determines if your beverage is caffeinated — or not. Stick the strip in your beverage — hot or cold — and wait about a minute for the results.
