Gold-Tipped Cane Goes To Oldest ResidentA 101-year-old woman in Williamstown, Mass., now has one of the famous canes from The Boston Post. The defunct paper sent several hundred gold-tipped canes to New England towns in 1909 as a publicity stunt. Each town gave a cane to its oldest resident. Ten years ago, Hazel Burdick pushed Williamstown officials to find their cane and revive the tradition. They did, and now it's hers.
