French Lawmakers Want To Repeal Outdated Laws The French parliament is looking to repeal outdated laws -- including one from 1799 that banned women from wearing trousers on the streets of Paris. Any French woman wishing to "dress like a man" had to get special permission. In 1892, the law was relaxed for women riding horses, and later bikes.
