Hamas Chooses New Leader Hamas, the Gaza-based militant group, selects long-time spokesman Abdelaziz al-Rantisi as its new leader. The organization's founder and spiritual leader, Sheikh Ahmed Yassin, was killed in an Israeli missile strike Monday. Israel says it will continue its campaign to eliminate Hamas leaders.
