And our last word in business today is about a retailer who's facing an unexpected backlash to its new catalog. The word is font fight.
After 50 years of using a typeface called Futura, the Swedish home furnishing chain Ikea decided to switch to a new font called Verdana. The typeface-sensitive Ikea fans around the world are not amused. They've been blogging and twittering their dissatisfaction with the new font, which they see as less elegant.
One design consultant in Romania even launched an online petition asking Ikea to get rid of the new typeface. But the company says it chose the new font because it wanted a simple, cost-effective typeface that would work well in both digital and print media, so it has no plans to go back.
