RENEE MONTAGNE, host:

Good morning. I'm Renee Montagne. A large shipment of Christmas ornaments in November? No big deal, except that customs officials here in California say the decorations in one shipment from China weren't meant to adorn any tree. Over 300,000 pieces of drug paraphernalia were seized. The items were disguised as glass figures and Christmas ornaments. While importing ornaments is legal in the U.S., importing brightly colored glass bongs is not.

It's MORNING EDITION.
