STEVE INSKEEP, host:
Good morning. I'm Steve Inskeep.
Apparently, human beings are not the only creatures with a weight problem. An Australian kookaburra bird lived in a park in Sydney and it developed a taste for sausages that people cooked at barbecues. Visitors were only too happy to feed the bird more and more. Finally, a resident brought the overweight bird to the zoo for a special diet. The warning signal came when dogs chased the bird around the park and the bird discovered it was too fat to fly.
It's MORNING EDITION.
