The gross domestic product grew at a two percent annual rate in the last three months. Not great, but better than it was. It's up from a 1.7 percent rate in the previous quarter. These numbers are just out this morning from the Commerce Department. Consumer spending also sped up, growing at the fastest pace since 2006. But the economy is still not growing rapidly enough to make a big dent in the unemployment rate.
