STEVE INSKEEP, HOST:

Good morning. I'm Steve Inskeep. When packing for a trip, you have that moment of wondering if security will let you carry on some item. We're not sure what that moment was like for Mitchell Crawford. Airport security in Baltimore went through his luggage and found smoke grenades, also bottle rockets and rope cutters, several knives, a folding saw and a hatchet. Mr. Crawford is now under arrest, although he told police he simply meant to use the items while he was out camping. You're listening to MORNING EDITION.
